Wonderful Proverb

from The Man Who Cycled To The Moon by Alan Lambert

/

lyrics

I made a mistake
Maybe I'll make another one
Who told you where to find me?
Maybe I'll make two more
See that opened window behind me?
You better call the police
Maybe I'll make it four, or six, or eight, or ten, or twelve

You like the things that I like
Maybe I like none of them
You know some things that I don't
Maybe I know all of them
Pick up that piece of paper
And fold it away
Fold it once, or three times or five, or seven, or nine

What good does it do
To impart explanations?
After all there is no such thing
If it turns out to be a man, I draw a man
And if it's a woman, I draw a woman
What a wonderful proverb
